Mauri & warm greetings from Te Umwanibong!

We are excited to kickoff 2026 by sharing highlights from a meaningful visit on Saturday, 14th February, where the Culture &Museum Division (Te Umwanibong) had the honor of welcoming the US Ambassador with his delegations who were currently in Kiribati for a visit. The team was warmly welcomed by MCIA Honorable Minister and the Secretary along with staff from Te Umwanibong with a traditional garlanding performance. 

The visit marked an important bilateral engagement between the HM’s team and the US Embassy delegations, to explore areas where future support and collaboration can be pursued to improve more efforts in strengthening the preservation and protection of our cultural heritage. They had the opportunity to tour our collections, gaining insight into our rich cultural heritage we safeguard for present and future generations. 

This important visit helps to improve international partnerships for culture and heritage development in Kiribati and also open doors for technical and program support for Te Umwanibong.
